Long take: I saw this piece of drivel linked from Kotaku a couple minutes ago about some guy who tried to get into the game industry, failed, and is publicly whinging about the fact that he wasn't given a fair shake.

There are a LOT of things about this article that I could go on for pages about, but let's just hit a couple of the...

Quote: "So, interested in how the WiiWare service was going to work, I plonked down 1500 Wii points for Square Enix's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (stupid name).

The experience started out quite badly, as purchasing points through the Wii is about as elegant as any of their other online offerings - that is, it's total garbage. Having to input a credit card number, security code, city, state, county and more to get the points is idiotic. It's..."

This game was awesome when it first came out! I also thought the episode of Futurama where they parodied the game was hilarious.

Quote: "This is slightly embarrassing to admit, but I'm addicted to ... Space Invaders.

Not the 1978-issue game, mind you. No, I'm talking about Space Invaders Extreme -- a re-visioning of the original game, released this week for the Nintendo DS and PSP by Square Enix (which now owns Taito, creator of the original thud-thud-thudding Arcade classic). The game is enormously fun, gorgeously rendered and -- other than the horrid use of extreme in the title -- a loving tribute to the..."

Strategy rpg using music? Could this use more buzzwords? All genre-knocking aside, I am pretty surprised this is for the older generation ipods and not the Touch or iPhone. I haven't had any satisfactory gaming experiences on the ipods yet that have convinced me that the ipods are a viable gaming platform, even for super-duper casual games.

When the guys who brought us Final Fantasy Tactics release a new Strategy RPG, it's worth opening one eye and making a mental note of even the most forgettable gaming platform. Square Enix has announced their first iPod game, Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes, on Monday, and it's already going to be ready for release on Tuesday, July 8.

Song Summoner continues the recent iPod..."

Quote: "At the end of Microsoft's E3 press conference, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada returned to the stage to show an extended trailer for Final Fantasy XIII, previously announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. The trailer didn't reveal any new footage (everything had been part of previous trailers showcased at Tokyo Game Show and S-E's private shows), but confirmed its release for Xbox 360. No release date was given, and oddly enough, it's only planned to ship for Xbox 360 in..."

Ooh boy am I happy that ATB is back versus the tactics-esque FFXII system. Also it seems that Square is ontop of their game for this one, hopefully they won't run into deadends because of the nature of the different hardware. Sure, other games have pulled off multi-plat more or less easily in the past, but this is different. To me, at least. :/

On Tuesday afternoon, 1UP took part in a roundtable Interview with Yoshinori Kitase, producer in charge of Final Fantasy XIII, and Shinji Hashimoto, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Square Enix. While other journalists from two other outlets were present during the Interview, the question and answers presented here were specifically asked by 1UP. So, if you see these questions..."

From the article: Speaking to the concept of paying third parties for exclusives, Tretton said that Sony has "invested so much money in the [PS3] hardware" that it simply "can't write checks for exclusive software."

The success or failure of a platform is based solely on the software's capacity to engage people. That's it. Period....

Whoa wait what? More news about FF7 compilation? Being the fan of the super complex storyline that people fail to recognize but generally do recognize, I am totally psyched. This could effect my decision of slowly accumulating cash for a console. O_O

Two days after Square Enix president Yoichi Wada stunned attendees at Microsoft's E3 press conference by revealing that the previously PlayStation 3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII would also appear on Microsoft's Xbox 360 (in North America and Europe, at least), 1UP had the very rare opportunity to speak with two of the masterminds behind Square..."

Did he say "friendly" and "takeover" in the same sentence? I'd would have called it a buyout if it was indeed a "friendly takeover". "Takeover" seems to imply unwillingness on the part of the overtaken.

Great, now I've said these words so many times that they have become nonsense words. Takeover. Overtake. Blah blah. :D

According to Wada, there have been discussions since May with former Tecmo president Yoshimi Yasuda and Tecmo Chairman of the Board (and current president) Yasuharu Kakihara. Yasuda has recently resigned in wake of a slew of labor dispute legal trouble with..."

The Japanese demo for the title, planned to ship bundled with the Blu-ray release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and said to clock in at two hours, is supposed to hit in March of next year.

But after that, you may be able to get your hands on it another way - cash!..."
