Oh my gawt!!! 400GB is a bit overkill, no? Then again, I do remember when (that is, reading about when as I am too teeny to have existed) Bill Gates said something about 256kB being plenty. Or was it 128? Oh well, the future may hold 15YB games for us in this perspective and speed of advancement O_o.

Quote: "People were impressed when Konami and Kojima Productions managed to fill up an entire dual-layered 50GB Blu-ray disc with Metal Gear Solid 4. But 50GB discs? That's so passe. Pioneer has just developed a sixteen-layer Blu-ray disc that holds 400GB of data (!). With this kind of disc, your PS3 hard drive could be copied five times over, just for the heck of it.

Unfortunately, this impressive tech will not be compatible with your current PS3. [Update: There is some debate..."

When I read your take, the very first thing I did was run off to do a google search on "bill gates quote memory" to dig up the real quote. What I found was a snippet of an interview that refutes this quote: "640K of memory should be enough for anybody."

Further research led me to someone else tracking the same information, wondering, "Did Bill Gates say the 640k line?"

Dammit! I had bought into this quote for years! What they found seems close enough, but not quite. It's like the whole "Al Gore said he invented the internet" misquotation -- skewed from what was originally said to be more entertaining, yet sadly not true. D'oh.

Quote: "At the end of Microsoft's E3 press conference, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada returned to the stage to show an extended trailer for Final Fantasy XIII, previously announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. The trailer didn't reveal any new footage (everything had been part of previous trailers showcased at Tokyo Game Show and S-E's private shows), but confirmed its release for Xbox 360. No release date was given, and oddly enough, it's only planned to ship for Xbox 360 in..."

Good move Sony, Konami and their Metal Gears are the only things keeping you running. Take those Gears out and join them with the other Gears on the 360 and the Sony machine is going to fall apart, isn't it? Even if per say the 360 could handle it, this IS Sony's only lifeline ever since Square's defection. They should do all they can to push...

Quote: "Following fervent speculation that Metal Gear Solid 4 would follow Final Fantasy in becoming a PlayStation-associated brand that moves onto Xbox 360, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton has argued no other console could handle the technical demands of Konami's the Konami title.

Speaking to assembled press at the platform holder's conference in LA earlier today, Tretton added that the Blu-Ray capabilities of PS3 had already seen of HD-DVD - and would now see off the company's console competition.

From the article: Speaking to the concept of paying third parties for exclusives, Tretton said that Sony has "invested so much money in the [PS3] hardware" that it simply "can't write checks for exclusive software."

The success or failure of a platform is based solely on the software's capacity to engage people. That's it. Period....

Whoa wait what? More news about FF7 compilation? Being the fan of the super complex storyline that people fail to recognize but generally do recognize, I am totally psyched. This could effect my decision of slowly accumulating cash for a console. O_O

Quote: "This time, Final Fantasy XIII's producers talk more about the Xbox 360 version, voice casting, and even hint at a major FFVII announcement in the coming weeks.

Two days after Square Enix president Yoichi Wada stunned attendees at Microsoft's E3 press conference by revealing that the previously PlayStation 3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII would also appear on Microsoft's Xbox 360 (in North America and Europe, at least), 1UP had the very rare opportunity to speak with two of the masterminds behind Square..."

Quote: "Spurning Square Enix's offer, the Ninja Gaiden-maker is reportedly considering a union with the Dynasty Warriors publisher.

Last week, Square Enix sent waves through the game industry by announcing a "friendly" offer to buy Tecmo for around $200 million. The unsolicited bid would've added the action games of the troubled latter, which includes the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, to the massive role-playing portfolio of the former, which features the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series...."

If any of you were going to Tokyo to the Enix game show, it looks like this game show isn't going to be that exciting. Here is a list of the playable games -- most were already shown at another Tokyo event:

Playable:

* Snoopy DS
* Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon DS
* Valkyrie Profile (DS)

Much like last year, Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show booth looks like it's going to be on the skinny side in 2008. The big playable games are going to be many of the same ones that were playable at the company's recent exclusive Tokyo event: The Kingdom Hearts..."

I am a little surprised to see Guitar Hero on the list, but then again the guy has a point that GH has released 10 games in two years.

Mario is a cultural phenomenon. Final Fantasy is epic. Resident Evil, Fallout, Diablo... all of these classic franchises will eventually decay and crumble, but don't expect them to be stamped with expiration dates any time soon.

The less fortunate franchises started molding before they even left the grocery store shelves.

These somehow less inspired games may sell millions of copies, they may contain lovable characters and innovative ideas, and they may even be great, but they lack that slippery..."

A interesting new twist to the most famous and longest running RPG to date. Then again for those who played , a Ehrgeiz,a fighting game for the PS1 that featured Final Fantasy characters, should be a bit familiar with something like this. Now in no way is this similar to Ehrgeiz cause from the pics and videos I saw on this game, it's a bit more...
